Finlandia Gardens rely on community involvement to flourish, and everyone is welcome to come and participate – let’s find a good fit for you!

Types of Involvement
Community members, schools, and organizations have assisted in every part of the garden, from planning to maintenance, donating supplies to supporting projects. We welcome those who are new to gardening, Master Gardeners, and everyone in between!
With 6 acres of property, we have activities throughout the year, including planting, harvesting, pruning, collecting seeds, removing invasive species, maintaining garden beds, composting, painting, conducting research, helping in the woodshop, and more!
- Volunteer individually on a weekly basis
- Schedule a visit for your school, scout troop, church, or other organization to learn and help in the gardens
- Complete an Eagle Scout or Gold Award project
- Conduct research on the grounds
- Rent a garden plot
- Donate plants and garden supplies
- Donate coffee grounds and vegetation for composting
- Work on your Master Gardener service hours
We have many opportunities for you to use your skills and to learn new ones.
Commitment:
The commitment and timing vary with the different types of involvement.
During the summer, most volunteering happens in the morning, when it is cooler.
After the initial onboarding, volunteer timing is flexible for most projects.
Master Gardener Volunteer Site
Finlandia Gardens is also an EMG – Extension Master Gardener Certified volunteer site, meaning that Master Gardeners and trainees can conduct their service hours onsite.
